Budget Rent-A-Car Complaint - Billing - What A Rip Off!!
CALGARY, ALBERTA, ALASKA -- I rented a car with this company on September 5, 2008 for 10 days. The agent that was helping me and my boyfriend at that time tried to sell us a "pre-purchased" fuel for the vehicle for $91.00 - full tank. My boyfriend and I asked the agent twice that if we happen to return the car with a full tank (as an example) would we get a credit or our money back. He told us that we would. Even when he asked me to initial the amount on the contract, I asked him again the same question. He even said that since they have my credit card in the system that they would just return the amount to my credit card. We return the car on September 14 with half a tank left but we were not really worried because we believe the employee at Budget.
I checked my credit card statement on Wednesday night, September 17 and found that I was charged $530.00 - $45.00 more than what I'm expecting since there is half a tank left in the car. I have called their accounting and customer service department twice. No one called me back till the following week and the customer service representative that I talked to was rude and told me instead to call the location where I have rented that car and speak to the manager, Vin.
I called on the same day and spoke to Larry, the supervisor (Vin is in a meeting) I told him why I am calling and he said that he will look into it and will call me back before the end of the day. Two days later still no call from Larry or Vin so; I called and spoke to Vin this time. Vin said the same thing - "I will look into this and will call you back". Two days have passed and I called Vin again, he told me that he still have to talk to his employee about it because he was in the meeting for the last two days and didn’t get the chance to talk to his employee. He promised that he will get back to me. I told him that I feel like he is giving me the round around – It’s seem like he is always in a meeting.
Then Vin had the audacity to say that actually this is a case of "She said, he said" and told me that since I signed the contract, they are under no obligation to give me a credit or change the charges. And, he kept saying “you signed the contract”
