AUSTIN, TEXAS -- With MakeMyTrip mismanagement, I was unable to board flight from Airline (AIR CANADA) DEL to TORONTO & Going forward missed Air Canada to Austin. While asking for tickets at an AIR Canada counter they were not allowing me to fly to Canada. As they can't issue my tickets on my sticker US Visa (H1-B) as told due to lack of transit Visa, which I was not educated by MakeMyTrip on that, even when they have taken details about my USA passport and Visa details. I was completely shocked at that point where my commitment & future schedule was in jeopardy.

Originally, I came from Airline & it's operated on the rules of LUFTHANSA. I was helpless & not able to seek any kind of help from them also as their flights & staff was off on the eve of Christmas. I was having US number with me, but somehow it's not working on roaming. I rushed to local Airtel booths for calling & follow ups. Due to paucity of time, I had taken help of my wife to help me change the ticket date for a hassle free travel, therefore with lots of hope she approached MakeMyTrip US - International Customer Care Dept. for help to shuffle the travel date / arrange next immediate flight with different airline.

We had high hopes as with the changing trend organizations like MakeMyTrip has reinforced Agent Culture and trust, therefore I have been a repetitive customer, but this notion of mine has been broken to a level that I would urge to retain it back for me or I might never opt for an agent ever and would prefer the conventional booking style.

On first call to customer care, my wife on my behalf, explained them the urgency and briefed them how due to lack information miss from MakeMyTrip has plunged me into the trouble. She requested them to change the ticket, but they simply harshly refused to give us any sort of help.

On Second call, after again repeating the history/urgency, and with all conversation we were given a piece of advice to get in touch with Lufthansa, which was not even an operating airline rather just partner airline, and MakeMyTrip representative made us believe that they are the only ones which who can help us at this point of time.

Challenging the last hope, and feeling empathic for the situation my wife approached Lufthansa Customer Care. I must say they proved they are professionals, understanding and supportive. After all they are foreign company and customer matters to them. Therefore on one go they agreed for an alternate ticket and started suggesting the dates as well on my present scenario, but the moment they went deeper they realized an agent in between MakeMyTrip and then what they said was "We are sorry as the agent is in between then only he can do it. We are helpless."

Even I approached information staff/counter Airline staff, all we're saying it's because of MakeMyTrip you are in such trouble position. I was left alone in a mess. I was running pillar to pillar to timely arrange an alternate ticket as I had legal commitments. During that time both me and wife were busy struggling for alternate options on individual level and off late I booked one directly and updated my wife to request a refund so as to ease the loss.

Third call, my wife requested them that I am not in touch due to lack of local number. Despite repetitive statements by my wife that I lack a local number and even she did not knew what was I up to. Hence a long approx. one hour discussion lead to nothing but a policy repetition, case mug ups and on 40th minute the representative lightly said he will give an alternate ticket. Now how should I take this on a refund call? When I already booked alternate ticket after getting NO Response from anyone in due course of time.

Why this was not offered on first call? When I was in pain and felt harassed and denied entry in the plane and we have always recommended you over other agents look, this is what you have gifted us for our years of loyalty. Today I wish I would have opted Expedia/Priceline or a direct airline. At least foreign companies respect their customer and it's a globally famous how important the customer is in USA. Just opening the office on foreign land or a .com version does not take you to their level.

By this approach practice of asking a travel agent to book an airline ticket is flying out of the Indian window. When I was asked about my passport information by MakeMyTrip before generating confirmed tickets as my journey involved US travel then why they haven't told me about Canada journey definitely required transit Visa?

Refund my ticket expense. I am genuine therefore not requesting you to pay me double or for the additional Unplanned Cab taxi fares to reach destination. What I am requesting is to refund the route I purchased.
Be in front of a big queue, as if I am a terrorist? Nobody extended their phones to me when I pleaded? A customer friendly agent would have played a dynamic and everlasting role by pulling me out of this situation.

MakeMyTrip failed tremendously, because they proved Indian companies are money minded and after their success they forget their customers who actually made them something they are today proud of. my family is your customer since you came into existence.

Horrible Booking Experience of Turkey Tour

DUBAI, ILLINOIS -- Satisfactory Turkey tour, yet a very horrible tour guide! Booking a tour through Makemytrip isn't all that easy as one would expect it to be. After confirming our dates and making part payment, we had to make 100s of calls and send emails for the smallest of the things while booking our 7 day trip to Turkey. They insist on full payment even without releasing the flight tickets or hotel booking details, vouchers etc.

More over the tour guide Mr. ** was the worst of all. Makemytrip has a tie-up with a local Turkish tour company called Dorak tour. And this Mr.** was the biggest disappointment that we had on our Turkey tour. Rude, is an understatement for him! He would be ready to pick a fight over any small question that we would ask him! For instance, at the Antalya Museum, he told us guides are not allowed inside and hence he would wait outside for us whereas there were many groups with their tour guides, beautifully explaining the ancient history of a lot of things in there.

Upon return, I just told him that "there were many tour guides inside, why didn't you join us?" He got so aggravated by this simple question and blasted at us saying "check your itinerary, check your bookings first! Is it mentioned on your booking that I should come inside? My company hasn't asked me to do a guided tour!" We were very shocked at his response but still we just said "OK, we need to check.", just to pacify the situation! He has no signs of a gentleman or a fun tour guide at all!

The other time, we flew from Cappadocia to Istanbul and a bus journey of 2.5 hours to reach our hotels. He said that our lunch buffet has been arranged at a nearby Indian hotel. It was 3 pm then. So we, a group of 33 people including a few infants and children started following him in the narrow bylanes of Turkey as the bus couldn't go any further. Suddenly Mr. ** chose to run so fast that most of us lost track of him mid way and didn't know where to go!!! Just imagine being stranded in the middle of a non- English speaking country at 3 pm (summers) with kids along!

After enquiring a little bit with the locals who barely understand English we found the way to the hotel and guess who is standing at the entrance?? Mr ** was standing right there. One of us lost our cool and yelled at him saying this is not the way to abandon half the group in a totally new city to which he bluntly responded "the others were running!" I mean all of us were new to the place, how can anyone run ahead of him towards the restaurant? Isn't it the guide's responsibility to keep everyone at the same pace or at least make sure everyone is following him? He didn't even have the courtesy to say sorry after all this drama!!

After lunch, we got onto the bus again and headed towards our respective hotels. I, along with 12 others was supposed to be dropped to Grand Yavuz hotel, which is about 5-7 minutes walk from the bus drop off point. This fellow lost his way and made us walk with all our hand luggage and kids in strollers for about 20 minutes again and then simply shrug his shoulders saying "Ohhh this is the long way huh! Next time we take the shortcut!" He would have definitely been punched by now, had this been my homeland. And guess what, again no signs of being sorry!

To top it all off, he collected his tip money 25$ per person 3 days before our tour got over maybe because he could sense our dissatisfaction towards his services. He hardly gave us any information except for a little history of Turkey and about terrorism in Turkey. We chose to roam around without a guide for the last 3 days in Istanbul as it was simply annoying to have an irritated tour guide by our side who just wouldn't divulge any information! Would I book through Makemytrip.com again: Mostly no as the follow ups that we need to make are just too many.

Disgruntled Customer

BROWNSTOWN, MICHIGAN -- Tried calling for two days. Still getting hold message. The store won't answer the phone when they are busy, but still have an hour before closing. The "with other customers" message indicated, to me anyway, the store was open. They have no hours of operation option on their message. At least when I tried the Ypsilanti store, someone picked up and hung up on me, I knew they were closed. All my years, 20, of being a loyal, returning customer, I am saddened, by this disregard for customer care. I will return today after making an appointment online. I've always been happy customer, and know this was not company policy. Just, needed to vent.

Abysmal customer service and extremely rigid policies

Makemytrip is one of the worst travel booking sites I have used. Their website had an issue due to which my booking dates were changed after I confirmed the booking, and they had the audacity to say that they could not issue me a refund for that ticket! Can you believe that! I certainly couldn't. I had to pay their cancellation fees to cancel a ticket mess-up due to an error on their side!

This is not the only time I have had this issue. They are also very slow with refunding balances if customers make changes to their reservations that result in leftover funds. There are several other services available out there - such as Expedia.co.in - that offer infinitely better customer service and benefits. I would not recommend using Makemytrip for any of your travel needs especially considering the sleuth of options out there that offer far better service, far better prices, and far better customer experience.

Worst Travel Agent (makemytrip.com) and Customer Service Experience EVER!
By -

The experience I have had with makemytrip folks has been by far the worst ever customer service that I have experienced or heard of! I must've talked to about 8 different support individuals at makemytrip.com over 28 hours period, on the phone most of the time, and to my amazement none of them focused on addressing the original request of reissuing the ticket and getting a new e-ticket number in a timely manner.

I can't help but believe that all these folks I talked to at makemytrip.com were incompetent in reissuing a new e-ticket number, but I'm also very tempted to believe that there was some other internal policy that encouraged all these folks to refrain from providing a new e-ticket number... all this for some personal gain at the expense of the customer - my mother in this particular case! It's a shame that it took about 28 hours for the 8+ folks at their end to simply reissue the ticket and provide a new e-ticket number, despite numerous requests from myself and the ticketing agents to provide the same!

Makemytrip.com has deeply troubled my mother and I doubt she will ever be comfortable traveling international again. All the other family members and friends have also been concerned with all this to the extent that we will definitely not do or recommend anybody to do business with makemytrip. I thought it necessary to let the world know of the impression makemytrip has imprinted on one customer and their family and friends. It's a shame that such companies are thriving despite their incompetence and total disregard to the customer whose money they are building their lives off of.

If there are zero changes to your originally issued ticket, you may be fine, but if there is any change, and you need assistance from makemytrip.com, they will most likely put you through hell!!! Below is my email to Customer Care at makemytrip.com. So far no response from the makemytrip customer care regarding my below email, but I'm not surprised. If any of you folks want the full story, feel free to email me at ** and I will be glad to share the details and names of the makemytrip folks I talked to.

I had purchased a round-trip ticket from makemytrip.com for my mother to travel from India to visit me in the US. On the day of her originally scheduled return (Dec 2, 2009) from Portland (PDX) to Vishakhapatnam (VTZ), all her flights were confirmed. At the time of check-in at the PDX airport on Dec. 2nd, we were told at the ticketing counter that they were unable to view or print the ticket due to the following message on their computer: "9W ETKT - Display restricted by 9W".

The ticketing agent told us that the ticket needed to be "re-issued" and they needed a "new e-ticket number" to resolve the issue. They called makemytrip.com and I also called makemytrip.com separately to request the same. We had about 2 hours before the flight departure, but unfortunately the makemytrip folks did not reissue the ticket as requested and my mother missed the original flight. There was another flight a couple hours later the same day and I hoped that we could get a new eticket number at least by then, but again makemytrip folks failed to do that.

In the process, to my amazement, while most others were relatively polite, one of the female representatives at makemytrip actually hung up the phone on the ticketing agent in frustration! The effect of this incompetence was not on the ticketing agent, but on the customer - my mother. After several hours on the phone and after missing the 2nd flight, I requested the tickets be reissued for the next day and was clearly told by them that they will provide me the new e-ticket number.

We went home and I was on the phone with makemytrip.com for several more hours the rest of the day, asking for the reissued ticket and the new eticket number. In the end, the schedule was changed to the next day with LH752 wait listed, but I was provided with the exact same e-ticket number as the one that had caused the issue in the beginning. The next morning, before heading out to the airport I asked them and they confidently said that there will be no issues and that I should go to the airport and then check-in, rather than attempting to check-in online at home. I reached the airport a couple hours earlier than the flight again.

To my disappointment, the issue from the previous day was still not resolved. The ticketing agent again clearly stated that they needed a new e-ticket number. I passed on this message again very clearly to makemytrip folks, but unfortunately despite repeatedly mentioning that my mother is old and traveling on wheelchair assistance, and couldn't stay legally in the US another day, they still did not issue a new eticket number and she again missed the scheduled flight. I then asked them to let me speak with their supervisor, but they wouldn't let me.

Finally, after much more time, one of the supervisors called me gave me a new e-ticket number for a different flight the same day. This resolved the original issue and the ticketing agent could now print the ticket. However, the time between the connecting flights in Frankfurt was not enough and my mother missed the connecting flight from Frankfurt. She had no choice but to be seated in wheelchair with no food or any other assistance from the airline for another 24 hours. On top of that, when she reached Shamshabad, she was asked to pay for the ticket to VTZ 'cause they couldn't find her reservation. I called the airlines directly and got this resolved in the end.

What the supervisor did after 28 hours is what should've been done right from the beginning. Makemytrip.com has deeply troubled my mother and I doubt she will ever be comfortable traveling international again. All the other family members and friends have also been concerned with all this to the extent that we will definitely not do or recommend anybody to do business with makemytrip.

Cancellation Fees Way Overcharged
By -

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I booked 3 tickets to India from Newark, NJ to Ahmedabad, India and return flight for June 26th, 2010. For unavoidable reason I needed to cancel these tickets. I called them to inquire about the fees and I was told $375 which include their $50 cancellation fee plus $325 by AirIndia. This seemed high because I had Refundable tickets so I called AirIndia (gave my PNR) twice and both time different agents told me that the fee is $200 plus the agency cancellation fee listed on my confirmation (which clearly states $50 per passenger).

After second call to makemytrip.com at 800-463-4210 and questioning why I am asked to pay $175 more than the airline cancellation charge, I was asked to hold and ** (agent) told me that it will be only $325 per passenger. So I asked why it is way higher than it should be and told her that AirIndia agent told me that I should not be charged more than $250 per passanger. So she hanged up on me. I called back and this time I got ** on phone to whom I explained the fee overcharge, then he said because they are getting discount from AirIndia by cancelling this ticket, they will lose it and that is why.

I told him that but that does not have to do anything with the cancellation fee I am getting charges. I asked him that makemytrip should charge the actual fees and not inflated fees so that in future the customer comes back to reserve the tickets again. So after making me on hold he says that he talked to somebody whom agreed to forgo $50 for each passenger and only charge me $300 per passenger. I said but last agent told me $325, so $50 minus will be $275.

He said no, it will be $300 or I need to call AirIndia and ask them to put a note in their system for this PNR that they will charge $200 cancellation charge and he said when I call back they will look it up and charge $250 for each. I called AirIndia and they said they cannot leave any note in their system and to ask for that by an agency is absurd as they know it cannot be done and a way of overcharging fees to customer.

I think this MakeMyTrip.com is unfair in charging excess fees to customer and I ask readers to think twice before booking with such agency. I will caution one more thing that this agency charges your credit card in India so you will be paying extra 3% to your credit card bank for foreign transaction fees on top of ticket charges. Hope this helps someone.

Very very poor customer service. Booked my ticket to India in April of 2009 for June travel. Gave my credit card info at the time of reservation. My credit card was not charged but did they did not issue me a ticket also. Talked to 5 different representative 2 supervisors and endless talk without result for 2 weeks. finally they were willing to issue me same ticket with $ 150.00 more... Seems like they were buying the time, stalling then sell the ticket when fare gets higher. I felt like cheated.... Never use their service again and never ever recommend to any one.

Fraud Alert, Customer Service, Ticket Prices

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- Please refrain from buying airline tickets from Makemytrip.com. They lure you with lower prices and then for days keep on saying that the ticket will be issued in 1 hour, and after 72 hours inform that they cannot deliver the tickets at the price that they confirmed while taking credit card/driver's license/passport information. Moreover since they charge in rupees, so a 3% currency transaction fee is charged by the credit cards. They are dishonest and unprofessional. They take your personal information and may misuse them for criminal activities. Do not give your passport / driver's license information.

I wonder why nobody is taking any action against them. There should be a class-action suit against them and they should be banned from doing business in any of the first world countries where customer satisfaction is of utmost importance.

Wish I had read these reports before making my reservation yesterday. I gave my credit card number to them to make a reservation and now am feeling unsafe doing that. Plus, the customer service representative I spoke to, also threatened to LEAK MY CARD NUMBER! Be careful and deal with caution.
