What Is The Policy On Data The Clerks Collect About Me And My Vehicle?
NEWTON, KANSAS -- I went to the local Walmart to get a tire fixed. They started getting my VIN number and my phone number and tag number and on and on.
I am tired of people collecting data on me. I saw no posting of Walmart's company policy on data they collect and use.
I even complained to the clerk that she was getting way too much personal data and she was completely uncaring and almost rude. I got the specific impression that after I complained, I was put on the "Lets help him LAST" list.
I even talked to the Assistant manager who referred me to the Walmart 800 number.
I am deeply concerned that this was more data than Walmart could actually use and that they are selling or indexing this data for uses unrelated to the actual service of my vehicle.
I started to refuse the data and the clerk said that without the requested data, they could not service my vehicle. I started to drive off at that moment. But, I had to get groceries and while irritated, I went ahead.
Am I in my rights to refuse collection of data and what do they do with this data?
