Starkist Tuna Complaint - Pieces Of Bone In Tuna - Canned Albacore Tuna

Canned Albacore Tuna - Complaint
Review by regalsea03 on 2008-11-23
I have always preferred Starkist over other brands of tuna but lately on several occasions I have had large pieces of bone in the canned tuna (albacore) that I have bought. Looks like the quality of Starkist is going down.

Finding bone in fish products is not unusual...and not much anyone can do about it. When I use tuna, I go through it with a fork and inspect it for any bones. I do the same with Salmon.

I love canned tuna :) and am a stickler for quality. I havent purchased Starkist for ages b/c its always wee tiny pieces of tuna. Its like its full of the bits blown off the bones and no real 'chunks'. Its so tiny that it squirts through the holes in the tuna strainer. I buy the Kroger brand tuna...its much better qualaity

the bones usually found in tuna are not dangerous, as they have been cooked and fall apart easily when bitten. You should always watch for bones in fish, as it is impossible to get all the bones. The only fish this does not apply to is shark, as shark have no bones. Their skeletons are pure cartiledge, and can be removed in one gentle pull after cuttong top and bottom. This leaves two half-shark pieces that are to die for when grilled over charcoal. Yummy. If you eat at a fancy restaurant that has swordfish on the menu, 9 times out of 10, it's shark.

white albacore packed in water should be whole or solid. the 2 large cans i purchased were mush.
