Dell Computer Corporation Complaint - Random Re-boots and Shutdowns
CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a new Dell computer in July of this year. At first I was very pleased, but then it started turning off at random. I called customer service which is in India, and they logged onto my computer, checked it out and told me nothing was wrong. After I hung up with them, it shut down again. I called back, they logged onto my computer again, updated my driver and told me to call back if I had any more problems. Needless to say it not only continues to shut down at random but now it re-starts at random. Luckily I'm still under warranty, but another problem is that my credit card information was stolen from my computer. I am fully protected with Macafee, but I am wondering if the Dell customer service people stole my information while they were logged onto my computer. I was made aware of the theft when my credit card company called me and notified me of suspicious charges. These purchases were actually mailed TO ME under a different name!!
I even got a call from a collection agency on my cell phone (the number I use for online transactions) and they were looking for someone with an Indian name. I sure would like to know if anyone has not only experienced the random reboots and shut-downs, but if their information was stolen after contacting customer service.
