Conn's Appliances Complaint - Washer/Dryer
LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS -- So I had just bought my first home and needed new appliances for it. So went to Conn's and got the whole home package. Washer, Dryer, dishwasher, fridge, and stove. Within a couple of months my dryer was having problems drying clothes. So I called service out. They looked and it and said nothing was wrong and I need to be sure to clean the lint out every time I use it. At that time I thought maybe I was letting it go more than one load. So from then on I was sure to clean it every time. But after 2 weeks still would take 4-5 hours to fully dry clothes. So called service out again. This time they said I was appartently overloading it because there was still nothing wrong with it. So did nothing but small loads and still not drying.
After 2 days of that called service out again. They came again, and again said there was nothing wrong with it and told me if they had to come out again and not have anything wrong with my dryer they would have to charge me a 50 fee. So I called a technican to come look at it and in the mean time did only neccessary laundry. Well on March 29 2008, around 8pm, I heard a load bang and ran out of my bedroom to see my laundry room full of flames. I rushed my family out of the house and my neighbor called the fire department. My dryer (that Conn's said was fine) caught my house on fire.
Luckily the fire department got out to my house fast and turned of my gas line that was just feet from the dryer. And my childrens bedroom! Well to make this long story short. Conn's did nothing about this, they didn't even ask if we where OK and actually were very rude about the situation like it was a huge bother to them. (oh and they are still trying to make me pay for the burnt washer and dryer that is under warranty) I told them they could come pick it up! I am currently in litigation against Conns.
Buyer Beware!! And please do your research. If I had looked at sites like this and the BBB I would never have bought from Conns. One last note, I am friends with the fire marshall in my town and he tells me about a quarter of the appliance fires he sees are from Conn's appliances.
