Staples Complaint - Bait & Switch - Acer Aspire One AOA150-1029
Resolution Update on 01/29/2009:
Well, after complaining with the BBB, Staples got in contact with me pretty quickly. They offered to send the correct battery to me. I got the battery in the mail, but it was the wrong size (like for a full sized laptop). Then I contacted the BBB again and Staples. I got the run-around again, but then after the BBB suggested that I contact the Attorney General of Boston to resolve the issue, I did get another call from Staples. They decided to credit my credit card with $160.00. I got the credit and found a new battery on-line for $98.00. I am satisfied with the results, however it took a long time to get satisfaction.
I found the Acer Aspire One laptop on Staples website last week. I had been shopping around for one for my husband. He wanted one with a 6-cell battery, and I found this one on Staples website for $349.98 with the 6-cell battery. I checked the stats 3x's before making the purchase. All three times I found that it listed the battery as a 6-cell. I placed the order and was told that I would receive a confirmation e-mail. I never got the e-mail so I called to ask why. I was told that it should be there soon. I waited another day and then called, I was told that the order was placed and that I would receive my product on 11/25. Then I got a call on the 24th from Staples. I called them back and I was told that my order would be delayed by one business day because I didn't call them early enough. I received my order on the 26th and the product was not the one described on the web page. I went back to staples.com to check and they no longer have the 6-cell computer listed on their web page. I contacted customer service and received no satisfaction. One representative did tell me that they did have the 6-cells listed on their site, but they must have 'sold out'.
They also told me that the product number that I have is for the 3-cell, which means that they changed the description of the product, leaving the item number the same. They apologized for the mistake but only offered two choices - to purchase the 6-cell battery for $160 or return the computer for a full refund. What a bunch of C**p!
