Home Depot Informative - Electrical Department
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I went to Home Depot to but a recessed wall receptacle. The salesperson for the electrical was helping another customer at the time, plus there was one other person ahead of me. I really needed the receptacle so I waited patiently. Well, the salesperson did not take people in order and wasn't in any mood to hear complaints. After a very long time and four other customer taken ahead of me I finally got my turn. I told the man that I needed a recessed wall receptacle so I could install it for my flat screen TV. He lead me down the isle to the correct area and showed it to me. I said ok but I also need the deep wall box to put ie in. He said, don't you have one already? I said NO. This is a new installation, I don't have anything yet. I need the receptacle, wall box and the wire. He just looked at me and said here is the receptacle. The boxes are on the next isle. Be sure to get a deep one. And the wire is right over there. Then he turned around and walked back to his station and asked the next person what the needed. I am now an electrician. I don't know what parts to get. That is why I asked him for help.
I went to the customer service department and asked to speak to the manager. I wanted him to know how his customers were being treated. The lady paged him and told me that he would be there right away. Again I waited. Waited some more. Finally after about 12 to 15 min. I asked her to please call him again. She rolled her eyes and then she called him on the phone and actually talked to him and then she told me he would be right over. Again I waited for a L-O-N- G time. He never showed up. I guess Home Depot isn't customer friendly at any level any more. Lowes will be getting my business from now on.
Lowes may be farther away but at least they help you find what you are looking for. This is the Home Depot on I-35 at the Walzem exit in San Antonio, Texas. The time locally was about 1:45pm on Saturday, Dec., 6, 2008. The salesperson in the electrical department was an older man with a hearing aid in his right ear.
