Wal-Mart Informative - Walmart Ship to Store Delivery is a Nightmare!
GROTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I was going to place my order w/ Overstock (about the same cost, better shipping prices) but got an email from Paypal that they would give me a $20 rebate to order through Walmart - okay!
I placed the order on line, only to find out that some items can ONLY be shipped to a store where I have to go pick it up...why not just go shop for it? The closest store is 30-40 min away depending on traffic...I figure why not I have to be in that area around xmas this could work.
I happen to be in the area of the store & have rec'd notification that the order is in but I don't have the slip, Store says NO PROBLEM we can find it via your name/phone... NO THEY CAN'T! Everyone tried for about 25 minutes - NO LUCK, I have to come back with the slip! No other options....
I go back with the slip a few days later (now going out of my way to get there) and although the slip says ALL 4 items are READY FOR PICK UP...there are only 3 items at the store. The fourth has been returned and credited to my account - HUH!? No one can explain it and the phone at the PU center can't dial out... so I use my cell phone to call the number the manager provided and am left on hold for 34 MINUTES! (while my husband & son are waiting in the car on a 14 degree evening - oh ya, he was happy!)
I can tell you that at this point, I was fuming! The gentleman on the other end was very polite and understanding - turns out the item that was delivered to the store was damaged so the store returned it...why you ask doesn't it just get replaced, the answer - "if I knew I wouldn't be the one answering this phone" :>) I then needed to REORDER the missing item, now not so sure if I will still qualify for that $20 rebate through Paypal. This time they have agreed to mail it right to my house and waive the shipping charges...when I bark that that really isn't enough, he was nice enough to provide a $10 credit to the item just in case I couldn't get the rebate, but since this item was only $10 it was the best he could do. The representative was VERY NICE, but there is NO REASON with WALMART being one of few store stilling seeing a profit, that I have to wait 34 minutes on hold OR that I could not be notified via email that the item was returned. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that "there's a change on this order, we should let the client know"!
You can be rest assured I will NEVER order anything from Walmart that requires the Ship to Store option ever again!! jdo
