MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- I canceled my son's individual policy about two weeks before the premium was due by faxing a letter to BCBSMN. The premiums had been deducted from my account by automatic withdrawal. BCBS deducted the premium after I canceled the policy and stated that because I didn't specifically tell them to cancel the automatic withdrawal (which was tied to the policy being in effect!), that is why the premium was taken out after cancellation. It has now been 2.5 months since they took the premium and I've still not received a refund. I've placed no less than 6 calls requesting the refund and inquiring as to why it hasn't been received. I just received a call yesterday stating that it'd be at least another two weeks before I'd get the refund because their accounting department did not get the request to reissue the refund (apparently the first check was cut though I never received it). It's unbelievable to me that this company keeps giving me the run around for a $150 premium refund.
So much time and effort has been wasted on my part and on the part of customer service at their end. And we wonder why insurance premiums just keep going up!!! I'd be interested in knowing how many others have had similar experiences.
