Meile Speedcook Complaint - Oven-Microwave Combo

Review by stitch on 2008-12-09
MISSOURI -- Let me say, the product performs as promised. Its faults lie in three areas:

1) The clock when not in use is unreadable, even at the brightest setting. It is yellow which is not the color used in any of our other appliances.
2) You don't find out that the interior doesn't wipe clean like a microwave until it is bought and used. Meile suggests using Easy Off which I haven't used in an oven in 30 plus years.
3) The glass tray feels that a minor bump will have it shatter like grandmom's crystal. This may not be the case but Meile techs don't make me comfortable on this point. They suggest it is made lighter so it is easier to remove and handle.

if you wont use easy-off, use amonnia. place a dish in side, and turn for a minute. the warmth helps release the stuck on food.

did you not look at th oven before buying it? and if the glass tray was to heavy, would you complain about that?

These all sound pretty minor in comparison to the fact it does perform as promised. I doubt you bought it for a clock. It does bake with heat, so it is not a standard micro. Therefor, suggesting oven cleaner for a baking oven is reasonable and shouldn't be too surprising if you think about it. Until the glass tray breaks, it is also difficult to project its frailness. I guess this could be helpful to someone buying one if their expectations went beyond why it cooks.
