Lowe's Informative - "No Dogs Allowed"
SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA -- I own a small company called "Bill's Fix-It". I'm semi retired, 54 year old man who does a lot of fixing on a lot of different things and I do a LOT of business with Lowes.
Four years ago, I got a puppy named Buddy who goes everywhere with me. He's been in our Lowes hundreds of times with me. He stays at my heal and most employees and customers are happy to see him. They often comment on how well behaved he is.
Today, the "Manager on Duty" (MOD) informed me he would have to leave. I protested lightly and asked if this was a written policy and could I have a copy. He produced one;
FE-01 Lowe's Service Functions, Effective Date 07/14/08; ..If a customer brings an animal (other than a service animal) into the store, the Manager on Duty (MOD) must ask the customer to remove the animal.
I told him that his competition, Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware were happy to see Buddy come and that he would now be losing my business. He just shrugged.
I think a lot of people like to take their dogs shopping with them and if the health department doesn't have a problem with it (if they don't sell human food) then I don't see the problem.
Cancel my Lowe's Card, take me off the mailing list. I'm going to Tractor Supply Company.
