I too filed a single debt chapter 7 against a law firm who were granted legal fees against me. I sued a group of insurance companies for dishonest conduct in the market place. I fought the case for 10 years and partially won, but they won the issues in the core of the case. The large law firm finagled an exception to the "American Rule" in law that allows no recovery for legal fees if they win. Because I stood up against them, they simply want to make me an example for others who might question their practices.
My health is not good, I'm on SS and 2 part-time jobs. I did not file against any consumer credit companies....only the large lawfirm who have already been paid by the mega-billion $ insurers. I don't need the card, as I have a few cards that are always paid on time and have tiny balances with large lines of credit. I just don't understand why shell cancelled my card w/o investigating the circumstances described above. Anyone can read the ch7 filings on the internet. I was faithful even after Shell reportedly bought oil from our enemies and participated in impoverishing Nigerians who are fighting a guerilla war against the oil company and the crooked Nigerian government. (6,000 oil spills ruining the fishing business, environment, etc)
I thought being an agent with inside information of how corrupt this large company is, I might change their practices of screwing the public.
Now, I just hope I am not dropped by all my card companies because they don't check my consumer-credit worthiness and assume I am a deadbeat screwing the poor folks who mail out all the credit cards unsolicited.

Chase is the lender, not Shell. In all honesty, you did file bankruptcy to avoid paying a judgment. The circumstances aren't that important to Chase beyond that. There is another golden rule: credit lenders don't keep open lines of credit with those that claim they are bankrupt.

Yeah what Slim said. Usually during the chapter 7 preceding all creditors will cancel open lines of credit despite any offer of reaffirming. Hmmmmm... Just a guess but it sounds like in your chapter 7 filings your forgot to list some of your creditors. Anyway you really can't fault Shell (Chase) on this one.
