Toys R Us Complaint - Nightmare Online Experience
I originally attempted to order the Guitar Hero World Tour Bundle for the Wii online.
Price was about $72.00
The order went through and I was double billed for the $72.00 amount. I called into Toys r Us and was told this was a pre-authourization for the purchase to make sure funds were available for the purchase. I asked why they have to make sure twice the purchase amount is available?? No one had an answer, so I cancelled the order.
The next day I went to a local Toys are Us and asked for the same price I was offered online, as the same product was $40 more expensive in the store. Nope...they are two different entities I was told. Interesting in that they shared the same name, I thought.
A couple of days passed and this amount was not credited back to my account as promised. When I called back, I was told there was not a pre-authorization but that all orders were double billed that day. I understood glitches happen, and was talked into re-ordering.
This time I was not double billed, but they sent me Guitar Hero World Tour for the xbox 360!
When I called back, they were very apologetic and offered me a refund, 10% off and free overnight shipping. I had to then take time out of my day to head to a staples to return the product via UPS.
I then called back in to place a new order for the correct product.
Well, the correct product arrived today. But I checked my credit card account, and I was double-billed again and the return for the xbox 360 had still not been posted to my account. So, I have $200 invested in a $64.00 purchase.
I have ordered all of my Christmas gifts online this year and have NEVER run into such incompetence, double billings or pre-authorizations with other companies.
Needless to say, I will never do business with Toys r Us again, and I would encourage anyone to avoid this company at all costs!!!
