Chicken Of The Sea Complaint - Tuna Fish

Complaint
Review by smokey59 on 2008-12-16
I agree with another writer. Purchased a multi can pack of chunk light tuna and it is so watery that it cannot be strained without losing the tuna that is there (my cats like it- their tuna juice is a lot chunkier). Tuna fish salad for sandwiches comes out like tuna soup with celery and onion. Tuna casserole, the entire can went in, forget straining it.

Whatever process they are using now for packing the cans is not working for those of us who eat tuna on a regular basis.

Forget the cans, get the stuff in the pouches. Yes, it IS more money....but, it also is flakey and not watery.

Totally agree! Hardly any liquid in those pouches. You are paying for actual tuna, and it's well worth it.

While the pouches "net" more actual tuna, when I strain the tuna out of the can, I don't end up with a watery mess. What are you straining it with a deep fryer basket?

Weird. I haven't had any tuna in a few months, but I buy the albacore in the can from Trader Joes and have yet to find the "watery tuna" problem. I won't be buying Chicken of the Sea. Thanks for the warning.

Smokey, try opening the can then putting it under running water and pressing out the water from the tuna with the top of the can.

That's how I do it, ZZ, without the running water.

I hear you MissM. If you get the kind in oil it's best that you run the water.
C'mon Smokey, this is "Kitchen 101" stuff.

contact the manufacturer, often times they will send you free coupons for a different product.

Is it just coincidence that once they went 'dolphin free' these problems started occurring?
