Forest City Honda Complaint - 5 Day Old Tire Goes Flat At 35mph Cost To Me $146.12

Review by jacqsj14 on 2008-12-18
COLUMBIA, NORTH CAROLINA -- My brand new Honda Fit hit a bump on an exit ramp and blew the tire. The tire also happens to be so hard to find it was on back order at 3 different places. The dealer said it was my problem because tires are not covered. One little 16" tire for this car is $146.00!!!!!!!!!! Not even my Dad's Expedition costs that much for tires! And unless you buy the entirely over priced road service plan your screwed! This looks more like careless handling during test drives! The tire should not go flat at 300 miles!! And Honda should cover the cost if for no other reason then PR!

I am now emailing my entire address book NOT to shop at Forest City Honda in North Carolina!

sounds like ya hit a pothole instead of a bump

Sounds like operator error. Tires don't blow from "bumps".

I have news for you. I investigated so many accidents where the driver told me they had a tire blow that caused the accident. Out of all the accidents, only one was caused by a blowout. In every other case, the driver lost control, hit a curb or berm and popped the tire off the rim. Getting it to reseal and inflate was simple. true, tires should not go flat at 300 miles, but drivers shouold understand potholes, nails, screws, glass, etc and not blame the poor tire. Sounds like operator error to me.

Why should they cover a tire for PR reasons? They didn't even manufacture the tire that you hit something with and want them to eat. Very unrealistic, sorry. BTW, for a low profile 16" tire today, that's not that bad. Ever price simple headlights for some of today's new cars?
