RCA/Thomson Complaint - T.V. Sucks And Very Bad Customer Service - RCA HD44lPW62 - TV HD44LPW6

TV HD44LPW6 - Complaint
Review by HRP on 2008-12-19
REDDING, CALIF. USA, CALIFORNIA -- Well..December 20, 2005 We bought this TV Paid $1940.49 for it. Two and a half weeks later I noticed it had a white dot on the screen which means the beginning of the pixels being lost. Called where purchased and they were very rude and not helpful at all but after I complained severely, they exchanged it, we also had to drive 2 hrs to pick it up at their other "Target" store. Now remember this is number 2 and the date for having that one was January 13,2006. Doing great then on December 1,2006 the color lamp went out. Got the run around from RCA finally got them to send a tech out, he said the lamp will be here in two weeks. two weeks later it was done and that night it worked for 20min and stopped. Again I called RCA and same old thing. The tech came out again but this time he told me RCA was out of the lamp and it would take 3 to 4 months to get one. OH I GOT PISSED HELL NO! So I started to call RCA it was about 10 to 20 calls before they said the lamp will be in very soon. Now remember the date we are in the end of December 30,2006 at that time I also asks them, that we wanted to buy an extended warranty on it, Sandra who said she was a supervisor told me at this time we are not offering one for that T.V. I said Why? She would not answer. It's still not fixed. On January 11,2007 it was done and I was giving a warranty cost $199.00, at that time I asked the lady on the phone this will cover any thing that goes wrong with the T. V. right? She said yes Ma'am. That is not the end, On October 3,2008 the lamp went out again. So I did like I did before and got the same feed back but this time they told me that the warranty did not cover the lamp.

Oh I was sick and started to call again, mean while my husband said we need to pay for it up front so I don't miss the games, a guy thing LOL so I did it cost $241.31 which is more that that damn warranty is. I have been on the phone more than 8 times try to talk to someone that can help me and all I get from them is Oh I am so sorry ma'am. I finally said to them give me the # to Corporate Headquarters and talk with someone who has some senses. Their answer was sorry ma'am we don't have a # for them. I can go on and on about more that happened but the bottom line is RCA should not be building a product that only lasts half a year or maybe a year, when we pay so much for it. RCA was once a very well known name and the top of the line. I will never buy a RCA again and I will tell everybody who listens not to buy one and I have also called BBB and will be calling the federal trade commission.

Bottom line we want a full refund back from both. Does any body have the # for RCA corporate headquarters? Please help

I'm thinking that unfortunately, the most you could legally get back is the $199 for the warranty since they are not covering the bulb that they claimed should be covered.

Has the TV been repaired or are you still waiting for a technician?

Hi, it got repair 2 days later, that was in October and I send a letter to RCA right after it happen and it took them until Dec 16 to answer back which they said really nothing.

Was the repair included in the $241 or did you have to pay additional for the repair?

Also, do you have a written contract for the warranty?
Posted by HRP on 2008-12-19:
yes it was included, and yes I have a warranty.

Does it state in the written warranty contract if the bulb is covered or not?

Hi, Soaring consumer.
I wrote all that happen in short.I am getting emails from BBB and I asked the lady on the phone if she can get a number for me and she said hold on and she was able to get me a number for Cororate headquater so I did the next best thing I called and ask if this was Corporate the person I spoke to said YES, I then asked him for the address and a name to whom I can sent all my complaints to. He gave me all I needed. I knew there was a phone number for headquater I was not going to give up and I will port the name and address and phone too for all to have... yes I am feeling much better now...

Hi ThomsonHater, Thank you for email me, Yes I got the infor you need. The # is 1-317-587-3000 Ex 5694 The ladys name is Nadra MaxWell who handle the complaints, what a joke that is her mail box is so full. What you need to do is what I did and is still going through it but it will paid off. I wrote to the Federal Trade Commission and The Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. I sent off 36 copy of paper to each of those offices. And also to Thomson Inc. Of course. I got back word from BBB but I rewrote them and told them NO I will not settle for a replacement lamp now after all what we have been through. And then I got a letter back from the Attorney General's Office and they said they were senting RCA a letter and to wait for word, I call the Attorney office and told the guy that is working on my case what was said from BBB and he told me to sent him a copy of both of the letters. This way he will have files on them. I think RCA better do all of us right. Oh be for I forget here is the Address I also have for... Thomson Inc. 101 West 103rd St. Indianapolis, IN 46290. I think when you write to the BBB, write the one in Indianapolis that is right next to RCA. And the address for them is... BBB of Central Indiana 22 E. Washington St., Ste. 200 Indianapolis, IN 46204-3584 and the phone # for BBB is 1-317-488-2222. Good Luck I will be praying for you and me as we go through this. I will post what ever happens as soon as I know... HRP
