Hotwire.com Complaint - Hidden Charges for Hotel Booking
I booked a 3 star hotel in Las Vegas through Hotwire in their "special promo" for Las Vegas hotels. The room charge per night was advertised at $29. After booking, I received the email confirmation stating that it was the Tropicana. There is a statement in the confirmation that there is an additional $10 resort fee to be paid directly to the hotel at check-in. If there is going to be an additional fee at check-in, Hotwire should clearly highlight this against the un-named hotel. To me this is false advertising. I contacted Hotwire and they referred me to their Terms and Conditions which state that they are not responsible for additional charges. They may not be responsible for additional charges, but it is their duty to declare this additional fee so that the buyer is aware of the additional cost before booking.
Does anyone know which is the best regulatory agency to file a complaint about this advertising scam?
