Orbitz Informative - No Seats
More than 2 months ago, I made an ORBITZ reservation for a round trip flight from Portland, Oregon to Palm Springs, CA. I requested seats on both legs. On 12/9/08, I checked the itinerary for the outbound trip scheduled for 12/27 and found that there are NO SEATS RESERVED for my husband and I on the outbound leg of the trip. I went on line and found that there are no seats left to reserve! I called Orbitz Customer Service, who said that I should have "double checked" that I had seats reserved long ago and that now I would have to go to the airport 3 hours early to obtain a seat. I requested that they call the airline, since I had requested seats long ago. The agent said that Orbitz forbids her doing this. I asked for a supervisor. He did end up calling the airline, but was not able to secure reserved seats for us.
This is poor customer service!!! Usually I book directly through the airline and I see now that this is the way to go. I will not use ORBITZ again and I recommend that you not use it either!
If ORBITZ cannot confirm tickets at the point of reservation, I suggest that it employ software to notify customers that the seats that they have requested are not available. This should be a rather easy fix and then the customer would know to follow up in a timely fashion!
