Target Complaint - Customer Service
STROUDSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- I went to Target today 12/20/2008 at 12:21 PM, and made my purchases’. We I arrived home I realized that I was missing many items. So I called Target to let them know that I was charged for these items but they did not make it into my cart. I was informed by Guest Services "that there were many bags that customers had left today, and I could come in and pick out my items again. Target returns the merchandise to the store shelves and they do not hold it for the customers." I went right back to Target to claim my merchandise and speak to the store manager named Jo. I explained what had happened and told her that her store had a customer service problem if they have a lot of bags left by the customers; the cashiers were not following through on their customer service. I told her that the cashier obviously had not given us the bag; she had it on the little shelf where they load the bags.
I wanted to know why the cashier or a store employee did not stop us to let us know we had "left the bag". There was not response from Jo, and then I asked for a 20% discount for the extra time I had to take to go back out to the store and the gas for my vehicle. Again no response from Jo, not a sorry for the inconvenience, she was quite indignant. Then I told her I had to reshop for the items I had already paid for and I wanted to be compensated for my time. Jo's response was she would give me a credit for the items that I had purchased. I told her that this was poor customer service and I could not believe that she did not even apologize for the inconvenience. Jo then responded that she would give me apology coupons for the problem and total of $9.00.
Big deal, how many customers does this happen to? How many people are charged for merchandise that they never receive? We paid with a credit card so obviously Target had my personal information, they could have contacted the credit card company to reach me. I bet this is a huge customer service issue. Is this even legal? I will NEVER shop with Target again and I will tell everyone I know what happened to me.
