Buy.com Informative - Buyer Beware - IBM ThinkPad Laptop Computer
IBM ThinkPad Laptop Computer

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I would suggest NEVER buying from buy.com, but if you must, WATCH YOUR PURCHASE LIKE A HAWK. They may or may not decide to process your purchase-- and they're not going to tell you!
I ordered an IBM computer off of buy.com and had it send to my father's address as a Christmas gift. It never arrived and when I finally was able to find a customer service phone number, they informed me that it was because I had not called my credit card company to add an address with them. I certainly don't want to have every address that I ship to added on to my credit card. I understand card security and all, but that's why I pay for security from my credit card company not buy.com.
Additionally, in calling my credit card company to see if buy.com had even contacted them to verify the address, they of course had no record of an inquiry from buy.com. Buy.com has a department that is supposed to check to make sure that the purchase is not fraudulent, and I guess they try to do it telepathically instead of through the proper channels.
Buy.com is supposed to send an email when this occurs to let you know to call your credit card company. They of course overlooked this detail. They never told me. They never told my credit card company. They just arbitrarily (and it is fairly arbitrary-- it's decided based on the cost of the purchase, the qualities of the customer and how their agent is feeling that day) decided that I would not get my delivery until I figured it out. I'm sorry, but this is not a game to me-- evidently they believe it is.
