Review by Smart Consumer on 2008-12-26
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- Ticketmasters almost makes attending a concert not worth it. Their system is flawed painful and expensive. I have never had a good experience with them. AVOID them at all cost - - -if possible. Who ever designed their web site should be fired. Painful is the only word that comes to mind. Ticketmasters SUCKS - -

They are hard to avoid if they are the vendor for an event one wants to attend.
Their fees are excessive, but it's part of the deal.
I guess they could raise the ticket prices and lower the fees.

I also heard that the Ticketmaster system is exploited by ticket brokers and scalpers long before the tickets to a hot-selling concert are available for the first time to the general public...especially if an act is so popular that the tickets sell out in less than an hour...and the only tickets available to the public are in the "nosebleed" sections. The better seats to these concerts are often sold to the ticket brokers and scalpers long before they are announced for sale; thus if you want a "good" seat to a concert, you have to pay the ticket broker's or scalper's inflated price; often 3-4 or more times over the Ticketmaster price, even with the service charges. The Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana concerts come to mind...those tickets, even in the nosebleeds, were hard to get at ANY price, and whatever tickets Ticketmaster had left (the worst seats) sold out in minutes the moment they first became available. IMHO, the marketing and sale of concert tickets is one huge ripoff and scam.
