Fox Rental Cars Complaint - Stay Away!
I waited over 1/2 hour for the shuttle from the airport even though they will tell you a shuttle is available every 10 minutes.
Even though I rented the car in Las Vegas during a freak blast of snow & ice they rented a car that the windshield wipers did not clear the water from the windshield.
The cars are dirty inside and the outside had numerous areas of chipped paint.
BUT, it goes downhill from there!!!
About 2 days after arriving at my destination in Redlands, CA the car began overheating. When my husband (a retired mechanic) checked the car there was NO antifreeze in the systems and all the water reservoirs were dry. By the way the car responded when we added water, my husband knew there was a thermostat problem. We tried to make it back to my daughter's house, the car died in the middle of a busy intersection and I couldn't start it again. After waiting on hold for Roadside Assistance for 2 Hours, they said they would send a tow truck with a replacement rental and it would be there within 3 hours. After waiting over 6 hours, I did call the Fox tow truck driver and he was still hours away (and he was extremely rude). Well, after waiting for 9 hours, my husband and I had had enough and notified Fox that I was leaving the car and to please close out my rental contract. (My husband has severe MS and sitting in that car for all those hours was causing him great discomfort.)
I called the next day to verify they had picked up the car and was told that they would not close out the contract until the car was received back to their LAX facility - a 3 hour trip that took 12 hours resulting in another day's rental charges. Then I was told that when they picked up the car it had severe front end damage and that is why the car overheated. Luckily before we left the car we took pictures which show the front end had NO damage whatsoever. Then the Roadside Assistance Manager said that that I showed complete disrespect for the vehicle because I drove it 300 miles from Las Vegas to Redlands, CA without checking the water. The Manager repeatedly called me a liar and that they will pursue me for damages.
Bottom line, they rented a car that was not in good working condition and are now trying to intimidate me into paying for repairs. The Roadside Assistance girl did tell me they are having financial difficulties... My list of complaints is much more extensive but this covers and major points.
DON'T RENT FROM FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!
