Continental Airlines Complaint - Had To Pay First Class Because Of Mechanical Delay
KILLEEN, TEXAS -- My son and granddaughter were booked on a return flight from Killeen, Texas on December 28, 2008 to Houston and connecting to a flight to Ontario...all on Continental Airlines. The flight from Killeen was delayed due to a mechanical problem which caused them to miss their connection in Houston. No seats were available for two days in their class of service from Houston, but two seats were available in first class on a flight two hours later than their original Houston to Ontario flight. Rather than go by their own Contract of Carriage (Item 24 in Contract of Carriage - available on Continental web site), we had to pay an additional $638.00 for the first class seats, and were advised by Continental that they were doing us a favor by not charging a change fee. Interesting...the flight was booked through Continental and Continental was the airline from origin to destination; however, due to their problem, we were extorted additional monies if we were to send our children home the same day as scheduled.
What really makes me nervous is that my wife and I are scheduled to fly Continental from Killeen to Ontario via Houston in two weeks and I am afraid the same thing will happen to us. Caveat Emptor.
