Key Bank USA Complaint - Deposit Hold - Checking Account
NAPPANEE, INDIANA -- On Dec 24th KeyBank charged me $450.00 dollars in overdraft fees because they held a $500.00 Christmas Gift Check from my Grandmother that I deposited on Saturday Dec 20th I then went o the stores and bought my Christmas gifts for my three children. Upon complaint they returned $225.00 but told me there were 4 more items that would be assessed for another $150.00 bring the total that they took from me to $375.00.
16 items @ 37.50 each $600.00
Refunded 6 @ 37.50 each $225.00
TOTAL STOLEN FROM ME $375.00
THEY HELD MY MONEY AND THEN CHARGED ME FOR IT.
My story is not unlike many others I’m a full time working mother supporting three children; my husband is unable to work due to a serious illness for which medical bills mount daily. I am a former Monaco employee but I was lucky enough to find another job very quickly. We live pay check to pay check and do our best. I had waited for the check from my grandmother to purchase gifts because there were no other funds available to do so. Because of the actions of the bank my family has and will suffer as this completely wiped out all that we had, leaving no money for the remaining gifts I would have liked to give. Not to mention no grocery and gas money until the next payday.
I am tired of they system beating me down and I will find my voice and speak up against such injustices. These practices have got to come to an end, holding money or posting debits before posting deposits and then charging NSF fees is just stealing from those of us just trying to earn a living.
I’m only one person but “A PERSON IS A PERSON NO MATTER HOW SMALL” (from Horton Hears a Who). I want KeyBank to listen to the small person and do what is right and treat people with respect and be considerate and understanding. I really don’t think it’s a lot to ask, Do you?
In addition they cleared the items from largest to smallest maximizing their profit. 16 items instead of any other smaller amount.
