Big Lots Complaint - Returns after Christmas
SARALAND, ALABAMA -- I shop at our local Big Lots once a week and have gotten to know everyone at the store over the years. This year, the day after Christmas, I tried to return a fleece vest that I had gotten my husband for Christmas. I had lost the receipt but the tags were still on and I felt sure that they would accept a return for in-store credit, especially the day after Xmas. Boy was I wrong. No exceptions.
This is very odd because two weeks before I had returned an item without a receipt and it was accepted without any problems. I spoke to the store manager who was very polite and she stated that they just couldn't do it.
The really galling part of the whole experience was calling Customer Relations (phone 877-773-1440) and was treated very abruptly by "Jessica" who told me that she "wasn't interested" in other times that this sort of strict return policy was NOT upheld. This is BAD customer relations and I really expected more.
I've been a faithful customer through the years and I love their products but I feel like Big Lots is assuming that without a receipt, you must have stolen the item or are trying to pull something over on them, instead of a customer who will return the item, but just put the money right back into the store.
