Cruise.com Complaint - Avoid Cruise.com --- Worst Service In The Travel Industry - Cruise Package On Norwegian Spirit

Cruise Package On Norwegian Spirit - Complaint
Review by Grisha on 2009-01-01
OCEAN SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI -- I booked a cruise on NCL Spirit through Cruise.com in May, 2008. I had cruise credits from NCL in the amount of $290 to be applied to any cruise on any NCL ship. I tried for over SEVEN MONTHS to get these cruise credits applied to my booking. I sent a copy of the letter from NCL awarding me the cruise credits--I sent it twice to the headquarters of Cruise.com. Both times, the agent who was dealing with me claimed that she had not received the letter. I used the correct address and postage and sent it to her directly, and she said she never received it.

Yeah, right. Cruise.com simply didn't want to acknowledge the credits because their commission is based on the total price, and my credits would lower the price, and their profit.

I fought with them for months right up until two days before the ship sailed, and then they finally dealt with my cruise credits because I threatened to sue them. I had asked to speak with a supervisor numerous times, and each time, I got disconnected. I spoke with the Assistant Director, and told him I would sue the company, and then I got results, although very grudgingly.

I would never deal with this outfit again. I have never seen such poor service anywhere in the travel industry. I would advise everyone to book cruises through some other agency--avoid Cruise.com. Their idea of service is to do nothing and wait for you to give up in disgust.

Congrats on the first review of the new year!

This is why you always have to book directly these days, leaving out the middleman.

Just thought I would add another warning: DO NOT book a cruise on NCL Majesty. The ship has been sold. It's crew does not care at all about service at this point. I have a friend who sailed on it several months ago to Canada and she had an absolutely miserable time. In fact, she refused to pay, and put her payment from her credit card into a dispute so that NCL would not collect. She is a former travel agent, so she is a very experienced traveler. I was on this ship last March, and had nothing but problems--no A/C, noisy crew at night, crew waking us up at 1:00 AM deliberatly, because we complained about their noise from the previous night, no hot water in shower, the list of problems goes on and on. There were major leaks in the ceiling in the dining room--people had to evacuate to avoid being burned from the hot water pipes leaking. The ship is in disrepair, and nobody cares at all because the ship has been sold and this is its last season with NCL.
