Ford Motor Complaint - 1999 Ford Windstar
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I'm normally only read reviews of products and have never before actully written one. But my personal experience with this mini van has urged me to try to inform anyone and everyone that this vehicle is nothing more than garbage. Ford obviously didn't spend a lot of time or money buiding these vehicles and they plan to continue with that same trend with the time comes to repair them. My wife and I recently added another addition to our family of four with the birth of our third child. We decided that we would need to move up from a full size car to a mini van in order to avoid having everyone cramped. We looked around and did research on the safey of a varity of vehicles and decided that we would look into the Ford Windstar. We purchased the 1999 Ford Windstar because the we test drove it and the initial overall ride was pretty comfortable. during the test drive we noticed that the engine light was on and we inquired about only to be told that this was a common issue with all cars and was caused probably because the gas cap was not on tight enough. The sales person assured us that it wasn't a big deal and told us that he would have the technicians look into it and reset the light. Feeling that were getting a pretty good deal the vehicle and it accomidated us we decided to purchase pending they took care of the engine light. My wife informed me that while driving the van from dealership she noticed that the heat wasn't blowing out warm but instead cold. I called the sales man the very next morning and informed him of the problem and he told me to bring the vehicle back and they would check it out and take care of the problem. Needless to say that trip back to the dealer would be the first of many. During the first TWO months of having the vehicle the engine light came on three times, the heating coil and thermostat needed to be replaced, the vehicle stalled on us in our driveway twice and would not start. Also on two seperate occasions while slowing down when approaching a red light the van made a loud thumping sound and jerked very hard. When I address the issue of the engine light continuing to come on the moron mechanic tells me the when he does a diagnostic test nothing come us or he's repaired the problem and can't figure out why it comes on. I honestly think the moron just resets it and sends me on my way. When I addressed the jerking and stalling issues with the mechanica at the dealership informed me that they could not replicate eiher problem while it was in their possession. Now I have read this same complaint on various websites about this vehicle and the Ford Explorer. I'm starting to wonder if there is some nation wide conspiracy to tell everyone with these problems that they can not be duplicated when the vehicles are in their possession. I wonder if they are trying to make us think that the problems are figments of our imaginations. How is it that NO ONE can figure out what these problems are? How is that there is no diagnostic test on the planet that can diagnose these reaccurring issues in these vehicles? Thankfully the van was still under warranty so fortunatley for us we didn't have to pay for of the repairs. But the fact that it had been back to the dealer FIVE times within the first TWO months that I purchased it was enough to make me a very disgruntle Ford customer. My wife and I have spoken to every one from the salesman, mechanic, supervisors all the way up to the regional manager and have recieved not one bit of help. I've heard people say that F.O.R.D. is an acronym for Found On the Road Dead and Fix Or Repare Daily. I agree 110%. I have since decided to get rid of the vehicle to avoid having to pay for any future repairs out of my pocket. And because based on these past two months I suspect that there will be plenty of repairs that will need to be made. I will NEVER purchase another Ford vechicle in my life. This situation has left me with a very bad impression of Ford; the company, thier products, and customer service. Ford = GARBAGE!
