J.C. Penney Company, Inc. Complaint - Not Notified Of Change In Due Date For Charge Card Payments
MONROE, MICHIGAN -- I went online today to make my usual payment, and found that the date had been moved up. I had supposedly been alerted back in October of an increased in interest on the account and a change in payment due date, effective in January, 2009 (one of those notices written in teeny little print). I had been charged a late fee of $35, which I guess is how Penney is making $$, now that sales are down. Of course, I received no notice, so I paid off my account and cancelled it. This is an unconscionable way to make money from old and devoted customers.
The lady I talked to said she was "sorry" that Penney couldn't notify online bill payers online, but that would be "too expensive"!!!
