Hotels.com Complaint - Price Match Guarantee Bogus
This A.M. I booked a hotel for Myrtle Beach SC, I have, in the past, always used hotels.com "thinking" they would be the cheapest. after I made reservations for 2 nites via hotels.com the total was $190.28.. I THEN went directly to the resorts website and seen it was MUCH cheaper, same nites, same room, everything was the same. There total from the resort was $133.55 TOTAL. ALMOST 60.00 cheaper then hotels.com, so, I reviewed hotels.com website about the price match guarantee, sure enough, I'm due a match or refund of the difference. I called hotels.com and spoke to a very nice gentleman, no complaints there, very helpful. But I'm NOT AT ALL happy with the rules and outcome. He confirmed the resort had a better rate, and told me the whole propaganda about how hotels and resorts give hotels.com special rates and thats what they go buy, what is offered to them to sell and that he could only take $5.00 a nite off the bill. I told him no, that is NOT what there price match says, it clearly states they will match a better rate or beat it. He told me that is the best they could do so I told him I would be stupid to keep the reservation, he needs to cancel the reservations and I would book directly through the hotels website. He canceled the reservations and the itenerary shows it as being canceled (I just hope it doesn't take FOREVER to show back on my debit card).
So, bottom line is: Be weary of there price match guarantee, its bogus, ALWAYS (as I will start doing now) CHECK the hotel directly first to see what they are offering!
