Honeywell Informative - Honeywell Only Makes The Alarm Systems

Review by Common_sense on 2009-01-07
I read a review that said Honeywell wanted $850 to upgrade an alarm to digital communication. First of all, Honeywell does not install alarm systems, they only make them. It was probably an independent dealer you were dealing with. In addition, that price is very high. Those digital cellular communicators cost about $250 and they take an hour to install. $300-$350 would be reasonable. If a company is willing to install a digital dialer for free, they are probably charging too much for their monitoring service. That's how they make up for the cost of the dialer. My company charges $20 a month for monitoring and we installed the upgrade dialers at our cost.

The change in technology was not the fault of the alarm companies nor the customers so the expense should be shared.
