Wal-Mart Compliment - Helpful Employee
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I'd just like to take a second to commend one of the third-shift employees at my local WalMart here in Orlando, Florida.
On my way home from work yesterday evening, I stopped in to pick up a 4-pack of my favorite energy drink. The store was quiet, with many employees wheeling around carts of cardboard boxes, busily stocking the shelves.
Much to my dismay, upon entering the aisle, I discovered the only product that was out-of-stock was the particular kind of energy drink I like. They still had individual cans, however, but purchasing four individual cans would have been a higher total than just purchasing the 4-pack.
As I was contemplating the choices, an employee from the other end of the aisle approached. He asked if he could help me with something, although he "was sure it wasn't for assistance reaching for something!" (I'm 6' 5"). We both laughed.
I explained the situation, and he excused himself for a moment while he went to another area of the store. He returned, handed me a 4-pack of the drink I had described, and put the others he had brought with him up on the shelf.
I thanked him kindly and left a happy customer.
I think it is worthy of attention that an employee paused his duties to assist a customer without being asked, and had a sense of humor on top of it. I received better service from an employee whose primary focus seemed to be to stock the shelves for the next day, than I do from the day-shift workers who are responsible for seemingly nothing more than customer interaction.
There ARE still some decent workers with a customer service-oriented attitude employed at WalMart!
