United Parcel Service Complaint - Allowed Meat To Spoil Without Even Looking For Package
REDMOND, WASHINGTON -- Despite recent snow fall, I had 5 separate employees (in one day) assure me that a delivery attempt would be made on the expected day and if in the virtually impossible chance it didn't... I'd be able to pick it up that night or the next morning.
That evening I got a call confirming that the drivers had been recalled (despite the claims of the previous 5 people) and after much pressuring the driver was convinced to find my package so I could pick it up that night... only he couldn't. Despite being able to find all of the other packages intended for my apartment complex, he could not find mine and the next morning they admitted the same and couldn't explain where it was or when it might be delivered.
10 days later, only after the shipper called to inquire as to why a trace I'd begun 7 days earlier had not proceeded did they miraculously find the package and attempt to deliver it... however when they handed it to me it was quite clear to my nose that the 37 lbs of venison (deer meat) within had already begun to spoil.
Had I known they were so incapable of tracking packages (some packages shipped via during this same period via FedEX were able to be picked up as they knew the very pallet and location on the pallet of each), I would have instead flown back to South Dakota, rented a car, picked up the meat and flown back... all of which would cost less than the value of this meat.
