ALERT

The mbi Flex Convenience card is a signature based debit card which is widely accepted among retailers; however, effective Sunday, February 01, 2004, Wal-Mart has decided they will no longer accept any type signature-based debit cards. The mbi card does not have a pin, Wal-Mart is requesting a pin for all debit card transactions. To that end, in order for Employees to utilize their Flex cards, they must seek other retailers who accept the cards and should have no problems in doing so as there is a large volume of retailers who do accept the cards. All charges to employees’ debit cards prior to February 01, 2004 will be honored. Should you receive any inquires as to participant cards not working at Wal-Mart this is why.

C and J Consulting and Administration, Inc., mbi, and Master-card take any retailer’s business decision to not accept the card very seriously. Amicable conversation still continues between Master-card and Wal-Mart and we are hopeful this decision by Wal-Mart will be resolved and reversed.

Should any solutions to this situation occur, we will notify you immediately. If you have any questions or if we may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

As a resolution, I would like the following:

wal-mart should honor this card without a pin because they have done this in the past. changing their policy without notice should not happen to the public.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

why not use a different debit/credit card to pay
or just shop somewhere else.

And the letter says employees will have to do this. Is the author an employee?

Ummm, wasn't the letter the "notice" you claim they failed to provide?
