Dillard's Complaint - Merchandise Return
KENNER, LOUISIANA -- My sister and I purchased about $900 of merchandise from Dillard's the Saturday following Xmas. About $300 of it was purchased from the lingerie department. The following Saturday I attempted to return a "yoga outfit" which consisted on a top and pants. I had the receipt with me but the cashier said the top could not be returned because the tag was missing from the garment. I didn't realize this was the case and thought that perhaps the tag had fallen off by mistake. I did try on, at home, all of the merchandise I purchase from that department and thought that perhaps it had fallen off but that my receipt would show it was recently purchased and it would not be a problem. The cashier looked at my receipt but said the pants but not the top could be returned since the pants still had the tag attached. I was really surprised at their position since it was clear from the receipt that I had recently purchased that item along with a considerable amount of additional merchandise AND THE YOGA TOP ONLY COST $11.
I asked to speak with the manager and eventually spoke with the Assistant Store Manager (Esplanade Mall-Kenner, La, a suburb outside New Orleans) who was very indifferent and arrogant. He made it clear that Dillard's would rather lose a customer over $11 of merchandise than except a return.
Needless to say I will not be returning to the store again. There are too many other great places to shop in the city than at the mall at Dillard's and I will be certain to shop elsewhere in the future.
