Bally Total Fitness Complaint - A Poorly Maintained Health Club
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- I joined a Bally's in my Brooklyn neighborhood in Oct 2008, and have been very disappointed in the quality of maintenance at the club. In the women's locker room, I have seen roaches several times, the lockers are rusty and often the locks are broken and therefore the locker is unusable. When I find litter inside a locker, I will see it there for days. Litter on the floor of the locker room also remains past one day. The sauna at this club has been closed by order of the Health Commissioner--I have never seen anything like that in any health club I've ever belonged to. Today happened to be the 3rd day in one week that there was no toilet paper in the women's bathroom. When I report this to the staff at the front desk, the response is always that he/she can't do anything about it.
The weight machines in the club are rusty and worn, and when pins go missing, it can be days before they are restored. If a weight machine or cardio machine breaks, no one posts a note indicating when it will be repaired. The staff at the desk are often on personal phone calls.
Previously, I belonged to a very busy YMCA, a very high use facility with dozens of children there every day. The entire facility was clean and neat throughout the day, the machines were well-tended, and the staff was professional and available to help.
I see that there are other similar reviews of Bally clubs on this website. I hope that a Bally's executive reads these consistently disappointed descriptions of poor service and unclean facilities.
