Jenn Air/Whirlpool Complaint - Service Beyond Horrible

Review by The Old Owl on 2009-01-12
MARYLAND -- I first posted on this site a few weeks ago. The next day I had a reponse from someone at Whirlpool (parent co. of Jenn Air) She was very nice & had new compressor(s) delivered to my house the next day (Wed.) Service was promised for Thurs. Thursday we received a call that they couldn't come but would be here on Saturday. 9:30 Saturday morning I received a call that there had been an "emergency" & they would not be here on Saturday. Today (Monday Jan 12, 2009) I called Whirlpool. The person I spoke with called A-1 appliance service & they told her they would be at my house this afternoon. It is now 6:30PM, NO ONE has called, NO ONE has arrived. Tomorrow starts my SEVENTH WEEK!!! without a refrigerator. The machine cost just over $2000, it died when it was 3 years, 2 months & 2 weeks old. In 50 years I've never had a compressor fail on a refrigerator. NEVER! & I've kept some refrigerators for years.

If I push the damn thing off my deck it will have cost me approximately $760/year, which includes what I paid to Apple Appliance Repair for a service call & installation of a new computer. Which was done before they determined the compressor failed. Apple Repair Service did not inform me that if it was the compressor they had no one who could replace it as their compressor person was out on "extended sick leave".

WARNING!!! If you live in the DC/Baltimore/So. MD?NO. VA metropolitan area DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, even THINK about buying an appliance that is manufactured by Whirlpool or any of the companies that fall under their name.

It is hard to imagine that any company can have worse repair service. The level of incompetence is stupefying.
