US Airways Complaint - Bakersfield Airport - At-Airport and On-Plane Service
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA -- I would say that I will never travel US Airways again because of the terrible service but won't, because I generally end-up biting my lip. (Also, all of the airlines generally provide horrible service post 2001.) Two disturbing points regarding my roundtrip flight from Houston to Bakersfield. First, I had a very important business meeting in BKF and my baggage was lost for two days. When I called on the second day to inquire about my bag and asked to speak with a US Airs manager at BKF airport, the US Airs representative there hung-up on me and threatened to contact local police for calling too much. (I called twice before that! US Airs must be very busy in Bakersfield with all of one baggage carousel in the entire airport!) Second point: terrible treatment of US Armed Services men/women by "US Airways". On the plane back to Houston, about half the flight consisted of armed services folks (Army, Marines, Navy). Some rude, older man US Airways flight attendant repeatedly called a African-American army servicewoman "girl" and "honey", sarcastically. When a Navy serviceman sitting next to her, objected to this racist/sexist talk, the flight-attendant threatened to have him kicked off the plane for "threatening" talk. Over-hearing the entire conversation, threatening talk is apparently now construed as speaking when not spoken to by some very-sissy old male stewardess.
The Navy man apologized (although he should not have in my opinion), but everyone surrounding the incident overheard the flight-attendant swearing/cursing afterwards, pretending to be macho. How much longer can US Airways get away with such unprofessional, itself-harassing treatment of fliers who are paying hundreds of dollars to be abused and have bags lost? My petty baggage complaint is nothing compared to this poor treatment of our courageous service men and women. US Airways should be ashamed of itself!
Shame on US Airways! Take "US" out of US Airways. No more bailouts of airlines, let crappy airlines go bankrupt. US Airways at Bakersfield stinks too!
