America Online Complaint - unauthorized withdrawal $79.99
TEXAS -- Over a year ago I called to cancell my AOL subscription, yet AOL continued to withdraw money from my account for several months. When I called to complain, I was told that, although I had called to cancell, I had changed my mind. This was a bold-faced lie! I could not have been clearer. When I informed the supervisor that I suspected as much would happen so I taped the conversation, he became incensed with me (not the liar employee) and threatened to sue. I informed him that as a reporter, I knew I had the right to tape phone conversations in Texas. Anyway, after several more months, letters to the BBB and Texas Attorney General, I did get a refund. THEN all of a sudden last month I get this $79.99 charge on my credit card for AOL Netmarket. I called to tell them that more than a year ago I had been offered a free trial of Netmarket and cancelled during that time period. I was informed that I had never cancelled and then she demanded a cancellation number. After much talking, the rep finally agreed to credit my account. Of course, when I called my credit card company today to find out if it had been credited yet, I was told no. I expect it will take me months and months again. I was also told by the credit card company there is nothing they can do, but I could change my account numbers if I needed to do so. How sad that I would have to take this much action. This is an outrage!
