Gurnee Hyundai Complaint - Never Going Back - Hyundai

Review by flashpan on 2009-01-15
GURNEE, ILLINOIS -- Went in to buy a Hyundai. Had my car picked out, the price was set, and all I had to do was sign the paperwork. When I got in there, they told me the price had gone up. I figured there was a mistake. Nope! They pulled a shady move to try to get me to buy a car way over the price that was discussed. I guess they figure that if they get you in the dealership that you'll end up buying a car no matter what...after you realize you've been scammed? How does that make sense? Ha. Who knows...maybe they do this all the time and still sell cars. I bet they'd have more sales though if they would honor their quotes! They had quoted me over the phone multiple times and via email too. They still wouldn't honor it. Dirty.

Obviously I didn't deal with every individual in the dealership, so I'm sure there are a few honest people in that building. Anyways, I would never go back there again. One bad experience at a dealer is enough to turn you off for life. I'll find the next closest Hyundai dealership, and buy a car there.

Also, based on the reviews that I've found on the online since my attempted car buying debacle, it seems like they do this stuff a lot. I guess I should had checked reviews before I went in there!

Unfortunately, these are the dealers that make us look bad...However, many dealers who continue to operate unethically by using dated sales tactics that hurt their image and "don't have a clue" as to operating with fair and honest standards are simply not going to make it through the current downtown...which is good news for both consumers and the "good dealers"--which far outnumber the bad.
