El Mexicano Restaurant Compliment - Excellent Food - Mexican Food

Review by old fart on 2009-01-15
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- We've eaten at this new restaurant on Bay Road in Saginaw MI several times now and had nothing but excellent food and service given the fact that it has been in business less than a month..

The young folks who make up the wait staff are very competent and friendly ..

I had the "chori pollo" which was an 8 ounce skinless chicken breast covered with chorizo and cheese along with the usual beans and rice... it was very tasty and filling for only 10 dollars..

My wife had a shrimp cocktail which was loaded with large shrimp for 8 bucks and was equally good...

We will continue our patronage and would encourage other folks in the Saginaw area to do likewise...

Cherpep... you won't be disappointed...How often do you get up north to my part of the world..?
Posted by cherpep on 2009-01-15:
Not very often. But, we do sometimes go to the mall when I'm shopping with my sisters and are meeting mid-state. They live a couple of hours beyond the bridge. So, Saginaw/Birch Run is a good place for us to meet.

Do you mean the Birch run Mall or Fashion Square mall on Bay road..?

look at el mexicanos menu it looks very much like the Los Cuatro Amigos. If Los Cuatro is not authentic and el mexicano is why didnt they came up with their "real authentic food"

they don't use lard in mexico anymore except for tamales.

Once in a while out here you will find a hole in the wall place that uses lard.

Realmexican, sorry but if you really knew your Mexican cooking lard in Mexican food is pretty common due to the fact that pork and animal fat are very common in Mexico. But there is always a substitue you can use to meet your dietary requirements. Some restaurants even have a separate menu for customers that require special or specific things in their diet.

Baja Fresh uses no lard anymore.

Super... we have a large Mexican population here due to the annual sugarbeet harvest...

Most of the Mexican families have been here for several generations now and are a solid segment of the population..
