Days Inn Complaint - Beware of Bed Bugs
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA -- Our daughter was scheduled to play in a 3 day volleyball tournament in Richmond, VA so we booked a room for two nights. When we checked in on Saturday afternoon after being at the volleyball tournament since before 8am, we were given a room with 2 double beds as reserved. We'd been relaxing in our room on the beds for about 2 1/2 hours and were getting ready to go out to dinner with relatives that lived in the area. When I went into the bathroom, I noticed a small insect crawling across my chest--had on a light colored top. I picked the insect off & threw it into the commode. Then on second thought fished it out, laid it on the bathroom counter to try to determine what it was. OH MY GOSH--A BED BUG. Had never actually seen one close up before but have read articles and seen pictures. Went looking for more and found another dead one on underside of bed comforter. That was enough for me. Called management and they moved us to another room but only available at that time was a handicap room--one double bed and they had to bring in a roll-away from our daughter to sleep on. That was move #1.
Then when we get back on Sunday afternoon after being at the volleyball courts another whole day, we get to move into another room with 2 double beds as originally reserved. That was move #2. If it had not been that all hotels in the area were booked because of this multi-state volleyball tournament, we would have left when I first found there bugs. Compensation---no charge for 1st night.
No discount for inconvenience of having to move twice, fear of spreading bed bugs from one room to two more rooms, and greatest of all, fear of transporting them home with us. Will never stay in this or any other Days Inn.
