Hotwire Complaint - Great Fun Fiasco - Hotwire $50 Rebate Program
In August 2008 I booked a hotel through HOTWIRE. I was asked if I would like to be able to save $ 50. off of the booking. I went through the process whereas I was enrolled into Great Fun a company which provides discounts at restaurants and other venues. I was able to be a member for 30 days and could cancel at any time. I would get the $ 50.00 rebate even if I didn't stay a member. I have sent them the required information three (3) times and have called them monthly. I called to cancel within the 30 days and was told it was no problem although they had not processed my membership. They could not provide me with a cancellation number. Its now January 2009. Every month I receive a check for $ 10.00. Of course if I cash it I will immediately be enrolled into another program. The check I was promised for $ 50.00 has never come. On December 1, 2008, George who works out of there Tijuana Mexico office told me the check had been processed and would be there in 7 to 10 days. In the mean time they have been charging $ 12.99 per month to my VISA for membership dues! GUESS WHAT HOTWIRE TOLD ME TODAY? Sorry but once I was linked to Great Fun from there website they have absolutely no liability for the actions of Great Fun.
They admitted they are paid by great Fun for sending clients to them but don't see any need to support their own clients with these issues. I will walk, sleep in a box or stay home before I spend one penny with HOTWIRE again. Be careful it certainly has not been GREAT FUN for me!
