hotmail.com Complaint - TOS Account Cancellations

Review by bpi45_2 on 2001-05-20
EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA -- I believe it is unfair to your users to hide behind your TOS and cancel accounts. You refuse to show proof of a problem. You site privacy as your main reason, but do not consider the impact on the people you cancel. Loss of data files takes time to replace. You use form answers, and never respond if someone wants legal counsel to contact you.

You believe in guilty until proven innocent, but you will do little to help a consumer to prove they are innocent. I feel MSN is to big, as they do not care about what harm they cause when they close an account and hide behind TOS.

To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:

Allow consumers to contest cancellation of accounts, and offer some type of proof that they did do something wrong. Allow users to retrieve files that might be important versus hiding behind privacy issues.

At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident.

Reading this post I cannot determine what really happened. You say they considered you "guilty" unfairly. What did they accuse you of? Did you breach your agreement with them? If you want to be taken seriously, you should explain things better. I have had the same hotmail account for 12 years. Not a problem has come up yet with mine.
