Amana Complaint - Shame Shame!
PALATINE, ILLINOIS -- The old adage "They don't make it like they used to" was never truer than with this fridge. I spent $1,500.00 on an Amana French Door Refrigerator only to have to crap out on me exactly 2 years later. Freezer works but it's the Sahara in the upper fridge part. There is no excuse in the whole world to have an appliance that by all standards should be maintenance free for at the very least 15 to 20 years. To have it blow up after 2 years is unacceptable. I have since found out they use cheap crappy fans that are practically built to fail within 2 years. Meaning fail as in over and over and over again.
And the repairman told me it's a COMMON problem with this fridge. He knew what was wrong the second he opened the door. And that I should expect it to happen again! AND to repair it will cost me $400.00 as this "particular" part isn't under warranty AND I have to wait a week. Surprise Surprise.
Not only am I out another $400.00 making this now an almost $2,000.00 fridge but I'm gonna have to put on 20 pounds eating all the food in it as I have to defrost it first before they can fix it.
Well fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....no way. Going to have it repaired and not if but WHEN it happens again it's going out on my front lawn with big black bold letters stating...........
"AMANA BLOWS but it's fridges don't"
There's a reason Maytag/Amana repairmen are the loneliest guys on earth.
I'm going for a Frigidaire - last one stuck around 22 years and still wouldn't give up the ghost.
Doing the math I figured at the rate it's going the damn Amana would end up costing me $6,000.00 to keep it for as long as any other decent refrigerator.
