Pep Boys Complaint - Why Was An Advertised $19,99 Oil Change Charged $40.00??
MARIETTA, GEORGIA -- We were the victim of deception and bait and switch. We have a pick up truck & needed a leaking tire repair & simple oil change. The dealership was not open on Saturday, so we went to the local Pep Boys. Upon getting to the service desk at Pep Boys, the sign showed an oil change for $19.99 which we chose. The bill was $40.16 & we paid, thinking it included the repaired tire. When we got to the truck, the tire was in the bed, not repaired. They then said they could not fix the tire, so the $40.16 was just for the oil change! They pointed out some fine print on the oil change price that said, "after $13.00 rebate." ???
At no time before the truck went into the bay were we informed that the price of the oil change would be greater than $19.99. When the truck was ready, the price was still more than $19.99 plus $13.00. We were told that the truck needed more than five quarts so there was an extra charge! Our truck has never needed extra oil, even at the dealership. We called their corporate office twice and they had a "no-care" attitude. We sent off for the $13.00 rebate and have yet to receive. You better believe we have copies of EVERYTHING.
It was a rip-off. Never again will I go to Pep Boys and the word from my mouth to others will be to avoid them like the plague.
