Best Buy Complaint - Unacceptable Customer Service & Repair
Resolution Update on 01/29/2009:
I finally did get my computer plus all data back, at no charge to me. It was an uphill battle the entire time and I would still not shop there ever again.
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- I purchased a new computer + 2 year extended warranty in October 2008. In December 2008, it wouldn't power up. The store replaced the power supply and sent me on my way. When I got home, the network driver had been removed so I was unable to connect to the internet. I took it back to the store. They couldn't figure it out so sent it to Geek Squad City in KY, but sat on it for a week before shipping it out. After a month, 2 new motherboards and a new CPU, KY shipped it back to the store claiming it was fixed, including all data & programs restored. When the store turned it on, there was nothing on it, not even an operating system. They said they didn't know why it was returned to them without anything on it, didn't care, and that it would take 5 more days to install everything. Corporate "Consumer Relations" was also rude and unhelpful, taking no responsibility for anything at all. One CR Rep said, "I don't understand why you're calling us.".
No one will give you their last name, the hold time is ridiculous, all direct avenues of communication are off-limits and it's impossible to find anyone who can help you. You truly are at their mercy.
