Stock's Auto Informative - strut cassings - Chrysler Town and Country Van

Review by korirae2002 on 2004-02-16
FERGUS FALLS, MINNESOTA -- I purchased my T&C van approximately 2 years ago. It is a 1996 mini van. I purchased it as a daycare provider after much research and review of vans. I thoroughly love my van. I have used it for 2 years in daycare and love the ease and versitiliy. It has taken us on several family vacations and now that we have relocated to the Minneapolis area we use it to travel the 3 hr trip to Alexandria MN to take my daughter to see her father every other weekend. The problem comes in due to a concern about the strut cassings. When I had the oil changed on the vehicle early on in my ownership the service man said I should have the cassings looked at. I brought it to the local dealer and he said that it was a safety issue and that I should have these specially made "caps" put on. I took the van to the car dealership and asked them to help me because I could not afford such a repair. They said they would contact crysler and see what could be done and yet nothing was ever done. Time slips away when you work 70 hrs aweek and raise a family and the problem has become nothing but worse. The strut on the left side has all but popped through the cassing which is part of the body of the car. Chrysler HELP! Now the mechanic is telling me it will be $1500 and I can't afford milk and diapers. I love my van and I want it to last. What can be done?

I understand your situation but the van is 8 years old What do you expect Chrysler to do? For god's sake either park the van or replace the strutts. Furthermore you have known about this problem for two years which is totally irresponsible. Sorry no sympathy here
