Lowe's Complaint - Never Again Will I Use Lowes
SUN CITY, ARIZONA -- I went to Lowes in Peoria, AZ. and asked about remodeling our Kitchen, both bathrooms, removing a wall so as to open up the kitchen area, and new flooring. They gave me a bid and I signed the papers in April 2008. They assured me the job would be complete by June 12 since we had to leave for a grandson's college graduation. When the cabinets arrives one was missing. It took a month to get it. They didn't open all the cabinet boxes until they started installing them after tearing out the kitchen and bathrooms. Then they discovered a broken medicine cabinet mirror and that took 6 weeks to get. They cut a hole in one cabinet at the wrong spot. They delayed and would sometime only send one installer out and he'd not return for several days. They messed up two walls when they plastered and painted and to redo both.
The neglected to order glass doors for the shower and I had to drive to Lowes and buy them at my expense. I then had to pay the installer to install them. My assigned representative at Lowes went on a 2 week vacation shortly after the job began and Lowes didn't assign any one to take over. When I called no one at Lowes knew anything about the job and told me Bob would be back in two weeks. When Bob returned Lowes found out there were many customer complaints against him so they transferred him to a different store. Lowes store manager told me he'd take over overseeing my remodel. He did for awhile and then transferred to a Lowes store in Aspen, Colorado. My promised 6 week time frame for the job ended being 6 months. For those that don't know Lowes rules, they required that I pay the full cost, $45,000 in advance. I was shocked because normally on a remodel one pays half up front and half when the job is finished. Lowes said not to worry. They are a large company and I had their reputation to back up their promises.
My job was overpriced, delayed, some of it was poor workmanship. One day and employee of the contractor got to my house in the morning and was packing to leave at 1PM. I said why are you leaving so early. He said he had his 40 hours in and the boss told him he didn't want to pay overtime.
There we so many mess ups and disappointment that I cannot get into them w/o writing a 10 page letter.
