Orbitz Compliment - Orbitz Busted Up Our Honeymoon!!!
1) The day before we leave, we called to make sure everything is in order. After reviewing our flights, we were told that we will have a misconnection, because there's not enough lay over time to make our international connection from St. Juan to Antigua. On hold for 2 hours!!!! then got disconnected.
2) Talked to a different Rep. This one told us that there are no more flight from St. Juan to Antigua. Then 45 minutes later said that another flight is available 3 days from now. The Rep said we can cancel the trip and call the airlines for re-funds. We the airline, but they said it's Orbitiz problem. Basically we got the run around and no one own up to it. However, Orbitz booked the original itinerary and did not alloted for enough lay over time for international connection.
3) We bought trip insurance. So we called the trip insurance access america, a partner with Orbitz, they said refunds is only apply when you en route and experienced delay. Furthermore, the delay must be more than 50% of the total length of the trip in order to get the money back!!!! So no money. This is our fault. We should have READ the fine prints.
To get our $1200 flight cost back, I called my credit card to inform them that service has not been rendered. We lost our money on the hotel we booked on Antigua with the Sandles pkg (not their fault).
Bottom line: DON'T USE ORBITZ. I used them before, and they are great if everything goes smoothly, but if you run into a problem, their reps are NOT at all helpful. Different representative gave me different answer so I don't know how what to believe. Also, you can't escalate your problem to a manager.
